Elizabeth Lesser’s book Broken Open was given to me by an angel in human form. She gifted it to me at a time where I myself was broken open and since then, the metaphor has not escaped me. I see it everywhere in nature. A seed pod breaks open to reveal potential new life.
More recently, I’ve been working with natural stones cut into heart shapes. I use them in making my jewlery. I love working with the stones and appreciate them as a reminder that our hearts tell a story. The natural colors, inclusions, fractures and imperfections are part of the stone’s history, and how it formed in it’s environment. These I believe mirror the human journey and heart.

Broken Open
When I came across the druzy of this amazonite heart pendant with it’s brilliant crystals, I thought, that even hearts of stone can be broken open.
And, what seems solid on first examination, in the right light. reveals a hidden beauty to be captured in glimpses.
